The divergence of the of vibrant green and the jagged volcanic rock is something that can be both breathtaking and misleading; one can venture with ease throughout the lush vegetation of Hawaiian shoreline until you’re immediately surrounded by a treacherous terrain of sharp, protruding rock. I wanted to see the rich flora of this green earth and the volcanic, extraterrestrial rock within the frame – these two worlds fused together with the movement of the waves was my vision.
I spotted a king wave in the distance and watched it come straight for the shoreline in front of me. I patiently waited until it was as far in as it could get and then pressed the shutter. It was all down to this one second. I stood there and watched the water slowly fall back down into the ocean, slowly eroding the shoreline one wave at a time.
